Fat Burgers

Remember I mentioned that America was the land of obesity? I tell you, it's all down to the food. True to what everyone says, the servings here are HUGE! Just take a look at these burgers.

Now I'm sure everyone's heard of Paris Hilton's infamous burger commercial for Carl's Jr. You haven't? Come on, what are you waiting for? But... just make sure your boss or mother isn't walking around first alright?

Enough digression. Anyway,I didn't try the spicy burger but I did try this:

Well worth the 6 dollars

I was very hungry when I ordered that burger. And even though I hadn't eaten for over 12 hours(I had an early dinner the night before and skipped breakfast), I barely finished eating it. Halfway through, it felt like I was in a food eating contest forcing myself to finish my 25th burger. If I hadn't skipped breakfast that morning, I'm sure I wouldn't have finished yet. And when I finally did, it kept me full for another 7 hours.

So moving on to burger no 2, it's my favourite one. In N Out's Double Double Meal.

Tastes good with onions

It costs around 6 dollars too and has 2 beef patties, but the patties aren't as big as the 1 Lb Burger. I had no problems finishing it unlike the previous burger because it tasted so good. Also, their fries are really good and I would say that only McDonald's fries are better. If you ever go to the US, be sure to try out this meal. =)

And finally here's the last burger. It's Wendy's Classic Triple with Cheese. Take a look.

How do you take a bite?

3 beef patties one after the other? How do you even start eating? Do you try to open your mouth as big as you can and take a bite? I doubt that because unless you're a snake with detacable jaws, there's no way you're going to get a biteful out of that. Don't ask me either because I've never ordered it. I just saw the commercial on tv. Perhaps I'll try it before I leave.

Just looking at those 3 burgers, it's no wonder why everybody here is so fat. Even the birds. And did I mention that for almost all the restaurants and fast food outlets here the drinks are re-fillable?

So the tendancy is that as long as you remain in the restaurant having a conversation, you'll be re-filling your coke or sprite whenever it runs out. Then you'll re-fill it one more time before you leave, even though you're not thirsty.

Give me food

And before you know it, you start looking like Bart Simpson in the picture.

Starting young is the best way

That's why I say that everbody who goes to America gets fat.

Weird People

I'm feeling lazy to blog right now. Mainly because I'm slightly tired from cleaning the house. Tomorrow there'll be guests coming to our place to stay for the night that's why.

Anyway, I was watching VH1 on tv earlier today and they mentioned this interesting site. Apparently it's just videos of random people crying while they're eating.

The world's full of weird people.

Looking Forward

1 week and 2 more days to go! I really, really want to go back already. Initially I had planned to stay for only 3 weeks because I knew that 3 weeks would be just nice but because there wasn't any earlier flights back I had to settle for 4 weeks.

I've never been away from my super lovable girlfriend for so long and it's making me miss her so much. It's as if the days are crawling by and time is moving so slowly.

I want to see her again.

Anakin's Choice

I went to watch Star Wars III: Revenge of The Sith on Saturday.

One of the things I don't like here in the US compared to Singapore is that the seats in the Cinema are free seating. Meaning that if you want to get good seats, you have to go in early, which is not good for me because I usually enter the cinema 10 minutes after the scheduled time just to avoid all the trailers and commercials.

So we managed to get good seats after entering the cinema 15 minutes before the scheduled time and I couldn't believe it when the whole commercial + trailers lasted 45 minutes. The cinema was probably trying to maximise their profits since they were screening Star Wars III every 30 minutes for the whole day.

But one good thing about the cinemas here is that the popcorn and drinks, although costing around USD$12, are totally refillable. So if you're with a group of friends, all you have to do is buy 1 large combo and share it among yourselves. And since the tubs of popcorn they give are huge, the most you have to go for a refill during the movie is once. And you can add as much butter as you want too.

Anyway, after waiting for 45 minutes and enjoying my special combination of popcorn and nacho cheese dip (you have to make a request for this, which is what I always do in Singapore), the movie finally started. Everyone started clapping when the words Star Wars appeared and the music started playing. I clapped along too, just for the fun of it.

Overall, I thought the movie was alright. It wasn't all that bad and it wasn't that good because I felt that they were trying to cram everything into movie and it was all moving too fast. That's why many people commented that it seemed like Anakin turned to the Dark Side too easily. On the other hand, I thought the effects on this Star Wars was the best (as expected) and the coolest part was when Yoda started to fight. One guy started whistling when Yoda jumped up and cut the heads off the stormtroopers. But I thought that the movie had one theme that I really liked. (Spoiler Warning)

If you look at it closely, the major reason that Anakin turned to the Dark Side was because he wanted to save Padme, the person he loved the most. The quest for his power was for good intentions. It just makes you think, how far would you go to save the one you love?

Maybe if I was Anakin, I might have done the same. I can understand why he made the choice that he did. Filled with all the anger and pain, he blamed himself for the loss of his mother. The truth was, all his anger was directed at himself, for his lack of power and inability to save his mother in the past. This time, he had the power. And he wasn't about to let history repeat itself. That's why he turned to the Dark Side.

"Careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side."
- Jedi Master Yoda

The only difference me and Anakin though, would be that after I discovered Padme died, I would kill off the Emperor and rule the whole Empire myself. There's no more reason to continue serving him anyway.

Food On The Otherside Of The World

I've been busy these past 2 days. My father recently bought a nice, big second hand bed and some cupboards at a great bargain. So after we bought it and put it in the garage for the night, we had to go about setting the whole bed up.

The troublesome part was that the master bedroom was on the 2nd level and we had to bring up everything one by one. Even though there were 3 of us(my father, brother and me), it wasn't easy getting 2 huge cupboards and a bed up a narrow stairway. After all the moving, there were a few dents along the walls. (Next time I'll try to put up a picture of the bed cupboards to give everyone a better idea) And even before we did all the moving, we had to re-arrange the bed and furniture that were in the rooms.

After 2 days we finally finished everything. I was getting sick and tired of moving and carrying pieces of wood everywhere. If you ask me, getting the bed and cupboards in the first place was a bad idea because I didn't see the need to change anything. Everything was nice and neat when I arrived. I felt that it was a case of going through all the trouble for nothing. Like the saying goes, "If it isn't broken, why fix it?"

Anyway, I'm just glad all the moving and carying is over.

Aside from missing my super lovable girlfriend, I'm starting to miss the food back in Singapore. My cravings started to get even stronger when my super lovable girlfriend mentioned to me that she had just eaten prata for supper.

I think I almost started to drool at that point. And suddenly another picture came into my mind.

Man... The first thing when I get back, I'm going to eat some Prata and Hokkien Mee.

I Miss Her

I miss my super lovable girlfriend. And I miss her a lot.

How I wish I could see her right now. To look into her beautiful eyes and simply hold her in my arms once again.

Another airplane, another sunny place
I'm lucky, I know
but I want to go home
I got to go home
Let me go home
I'm just too far from where you are
I want to come home
Let me go home
Oh I miss you, you know

Home is where the heart is and I want to come back home to you.

Postponed

Why is that everytime I'm about to blog, something comes up and I have to postpone my blogging only to forget what I wanted to blog about when I come back later?

Bah~ At least I'm off to play some basketball. America is the land of obesity so getting some exercise is very important in order not to get FAT.

Later.

Thinking In The Cold

If there's one thing that I hate over here, it's the cold. You see, I'm a "hot" kind of person. If I had a choice to either get melted in the heat or frozen to death, I'd pick getting melted. My body naturally reacts negatively to the cold as well, leaving me with a clogged nose every morning when I wake up. At least after clearing it my nose doesn't get clogged for the rest of the day.

One of my good friends, Robin (named changed of course) recently broke up with his girlfriend and I won't go into details, but we finally came to the conclusion that it's time to move on. Ask anyone who's been in a relationship and they'll you the hardest part of breaking up is moving on.

As Robin aptly put, "It's during the time when you wake up, and then that sinking feeling and pain hits you, and then you feel just dying." But like I told him, there are times that you can't help but move on.

"To let go is not to deny...But to accept.
To let go is not to regret the past
But to grow and live for the future."

And how does one know whether one has already moved on? Simple. Just imagine your ex boyfriend or girlfriend making out with someone else. Do you feel like the killing that bastard or slapping that biatch? Well then, you haven't moved on if you're still feeling the rage of jealousy.

But if you don't mind and you're feeling is indifference, then congratulations! You have offcially moved on.

So Robin, have you moved on yet?

On The Otherside Of The World

Phew, I've finally arrived in the US. And I'm glad that everything went smoothly. I didn't get lost or anything. And on the plane, I slept quite well actually. I guess I must have gotten used to these long flights already.

Right now it's 1:18 in the morning and I don't really feel that jet lagged. The only reason I can think of is due to the irregular sleeping hours I had when I was in Singapore. (Sleep at 5, wake up at 1)

So far not much interesting stuff has happened yet. The only one that happened today was that my father got caught for speeding after picking me up for the airport. I thought it was quite cool actually. I felt like I was on an episode of Cops or something. Haha.

I was glad to see my dog Rainbow when I finally arrived at the house. He went mad when he saw me and has been following me around the house the whole day. Even now he's fast asleep and snoring just beneath this table.

As for tomorrow, I don't know what I'll be doing but I just hope it isn't rotting at home. Over the next few days, I'll try to get a digital camera from somewhere and maybe post up a few pictures here and there.

Pardon if this entry is quite messy. I'm just writing whatever comes to my mind right now. Alright, I'll update again soon.

Flying

I'll flying in roughly about 6 hours to the US to visit my family. I've travelled overseas several times before, but this will be the first time I'll be travelling be alone, so I have to admit that I'm slightly nervous. I'm just hoping that everything will go well and that the person seated next to me won't be someone annoying or has BO.

Yesterday I checked out the Pay Per Roam rates on the M1 website and the rates are simply killer. It's $2.50 per minute on top of the local charges of the country you are in. I guess I'll just be sending SMSes at most but even that would cost around 50 cents per message.

Alright. I've got some packing to do, so I'll end right here. See you all in around 22 hours! =)

The Greatest Riddle Of All Time

I got this question in an email recently. I cracked my head for a while but couldn't come up with an answer. So here's the question.

Imagine you are in Africa. You have been tied hanging on a tree with a rope anchored on the ground, a candle is slowly burning the rope, and the lion is waiting for you to drop and be his lunch. Your survival hinges on the rope staying intact, there is no one around to help you. The only possible way is to somehow convince the lion to BLOW the candle out.

How do you do that? Check out the 1st picture first and think before going to the 2nd picture.

It's a matter of life and death.
