Heat and Ants

First of all, I sincerely apologise for the long, unannounced hiatus. Due to problems mentioned before, I never knew when I could come online and even I could, I found myself devoid of ideas to write about and ended up doing other stuff. (DOTA anyone?)

So why am I able to blog all of a sudden?

Well, it's mainly because I'm currently in the US again to visit my family. Yep, finally a break from work. And now that I'm finally able to consistently go online, I feel rejuvenated enough to start writing and visiting blogs again.

Anyway, I've already been here for slightly over a week and so far it's been pretty fun. Lots of eating going on. In fact my first meal here was In-N-Out's Double Double meal!

The burger at the bottom is mine. =)

One thing I didn't expect though was the searing heat. I knew it was summer but I didn't expect it to get even hotter than Singapore. Yesterday the temperature here was 38 degrees. My dog Rainbow was panting even though he was just laying down in the middle of the room. Further north at Sacramento, I heard the temperature was 46 degrees.

"I'm hot."

So wherever you go, in the malls or at the fast food restaurants, you'll hear people complaining how hot it is. The heat here is different from Singapore in that you can really feel the sunlight burning your skin. It's probably due to the lower humidity which means you hardly sweat at all.

Another thing the heat brings about are the ants. And those ants can be a real pain in the ass. They're everywhere. I left a glass of water overnight on the table and the next morning there were about 20 ants drowned in the middle with another 6 or 7 crawling around. And they weren't only in my room, they were invading elsewhere in the house.

So the next morning, my brother and I went ant hunting.

Where are those damned ants?

As you can see from the picture, my brother carried out most of the ant annihilation while I, having the older brother status, had the all important duty of standing around and ensuring his safety from any possible ant attack. =)

Alrighty, I'll end here for now, Will blog again soon.
